History
Davao del Sur was originally part of the larger undivided Davao province. On May 8, 1967, Republic Act No. 4867 divided the old province into Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Davao del Sur. In 2013, Davao Occidental was created from its southern municipalities. The province is home to indigenous groups such as the Bagobo, B’laan, and Tagakaulo, and has developed into an agricultural hub and cultural gateway in Mindanao.
